Hi! Thanks for the question.

There are different theories that suggest on how music began. I have
found the following articles discussing some of the theories.

Hi rtt,

The following links provide the possible beginnings of music.

The Origins of Music
http://www.knowledgegeek.com/item/The_Origins_of_Music_198.aspx

"The origins of music are lost deep in prehistoric times. Probably the
earliest forms of music were songs, possibly accented by the clapping
of hands. Most likely the first instruments were percussion
instruments, maybe a hollow trunk, stones hit together, or other
things that are useful to create rhythm, but not always melody.
Thirty-thousand-year-old bone flutes have been found in archeological
sites; the design seems to be similar to that of the recorder."

=================================================

What was the first music?
http://www.reep.org/resources/s_musicorigins/

"Two stones clapped together to make a rhythm? Feet stamping on the ground?
Or perhaps just the clapping of hands.

When did music begin?
Perhaps it all began with the dancing, drumming and chanting at
religious ceremonies. Such rituals seem to stretch back towards the
beginning of human consciousness. But, in the end, there is no way we
can ever know for certain.

Whatever its origins, music is one of the most important ways we have
of giving expression to - and creating - emotion. Love, of course, and
our wonder at the natural world, all these feelings can be expressed
through music."

Best regards,

rtt-ga,

Please be aware of the Google Answers pricing guidlines:

"The more complex the question, the more time it requires for a
Researcher to answer. A Researcher will only want to answer a complex
question if he or she feels adequately compensated for the time
expended. If you have a sense of how long it will take a Researcher to
find an answer, you should take that into account. For example, if you
know your question could take 3 hours to answer, you should price your
question higher than you would if your question would take only 15
minutes to answer."

For $2.00, the researcher pockets $1.50, so you got what you paid for.
