pphil-ga,
I have alot of experience with cleaning spyware of other people's
computer. I recommend that you run Adaware
(http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/) with the latest
reference files. Immediately after that, run HijackThis
(http://www.spychecker.com/program/hijackthis.html).

After download HijackThis, run the program. Click Scan. In the
resulting list of items, try to find any wmaaxis related items. Check
them. Click Fix Checked... to remove the toolbar. Make sure all your
internet explorer windows are closed!

Let me know if this works.

Cheers,
Tox-ga

I would suggest you run the following freeware utilities.

SpySweeper
SpyBot
CWSShredder

You can find the home pages for each of these utilities via Google.
Each one scans your system for "spyware", which this wmaaxis toolbar
sounds like.

Like virus scanners, however, a single spyware utility may not find
and safely remove all kinds of spyware; in those cases it's best to
scan with several different utilities until you find one which can
eradicate the spyware.

I seem to have found a temporary solution, by blocking two sites
http://srch.lop.com and www.portalsearching.com by adding them to the
restricted sites box in I.E.
I have spyBot, which did not work. I will try the others later, to
find a permanent solution.
Thanks/pphil
