My father recently had a stroke and is now suffering from weakness and
pain in his left upper limb, making it difficult for him to pick up
objects or even stretch out his arm completely. It was suggested that
I look into purchasing him a functional electrical stimulation device
(FES) or a transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation device (TENS)
to help with his rehabilitation.

I would appreciate some help in locating web sites of current
manufacturers of FES and TENS devices in the US (abroad, ok too) so I
can research the specific product/costs and then decide which device
would work best for us. I am looking for something that is easily
portable, does not have a complicated set up, and is geared
specifically for post-stroke patients.

If you can provide 25 sites, it would be ideal, but any information
will be appreciated. Thank you so much for your help.

Dear andy720,

I have searched for hours, but it seems that most TENS devices are
"anonymously" manufactured in Asia and only distributed by American
and European companies. Thus, I could only find 9 manufacturers (USA
and Europe). FES device manufacturers are even harder to locate; I
found some, but their devices were made for the legs, not the arms of
stroke patients.

Here is the list of TENS manufacturers I found. If you consider it
useful, please let me know and I will make this a regular answer. If
you do not like it, I hope that one of my colleagues will be able to
collect a more extensive list.

Thank you very much for your reply, I can imagine these manufacturers
would be difficult to locate and I appreciate the time you have spent
working on this. I would, however, find it very beneficial if you
would provide me with a few (say 10) DISTRIBUTOR websites as they
might also be able to give me the details I need about the products.
Information about the FES manufacturers (even if it is for devices for
the legs)would also be welcomed. I want to be as informed as possible
about the techologies that are out there, as you might imagine.

of distributors and suppliers that might lead you to further
information. From the various companies offering TENS devices, I tried
