Is it true that there is a law on the books in Kentucky which states, "No female shall appear in a bathing suit on any highway within the state unless she is escorted by at least two officers or unless she is armed with a club." Can you varify or deny the existence of this law? |

Hello. No, it's not true. Although hundreds of web sites claim that such a law exists, it doesn't. However, such a law actually DID exist at one time. It was Kentucky Revised Statute 436.140. The law was repealed, though, effective January 1, 1975. From Kentucky Revised Statutes: 436.140 Repealed, effective January 1, 1975. Abstract: 436.140 Repealed, effective January 1, 1975. Catchline at repeal: Appearing on highway in bathing garb. http://www.lrc.state.ky.us/krs/436%2D00/140.pdf -------- search strategy: kentucky statutes search: bathing I hope this helps. |
