Hi Brooks

To get to the classified ads online for the three newspapers you are
interested in, you should start by going back to the list lot-ga made
for you at:

https://answers.google.com/answers/main?cmd=threadview&id=35315
(Click on the line above to get back to lot-ga's answer.)

For the Observer:
click on the address link under the name of the paper, that is, the
line that starts "http". You will find a list of topics to choose
from, like "entertainment" or "land for sale". Click on the one that
interests you.

For the Morning News:
the address link (starts http) will take you to a page with choices to
be made again. When you have clicked on your choice you will get to a
page with more choices to be made. For instance, if you select
"acreage, farms and ranches", you will then have the opportunity to
choose which type of property you want and in which area. You can also
selct different dates on which the ads appeared. When you have made
your choice, click the "search" button.

For the Examiner:
When you click the address link for the Examiner you will find a page
with a list down the blue column on the left where the word
"classifieds" appears. When I tested this it wasn't working - perhaps
because it's a big national holiday in the US today? - but I hope it
would work another day.

Good luck with finding what you want in the Dallas newspapers.

Sorry to hear you are having so much trouble, Brooks. It sure is
frustrating when computers don't co-operate with you.

I think you will get a lot of help by reading Missy's comment below.
It is important to note that there are two different kinds of address
- email addresses and web addresses (URLs).
To read the classifieds on the newspaper website you will need the URL
or web address.
As she says, copying and pasting the address links should help.

Start by deleting everything in the white address bar near the top of
the browser screen.
Next step will be to copy the address for the Dallas Observer into
that white space.
Do that the way Missy describes with the mouse -

First draw with left mouse button over:
http://www.dallasobserver.com/classified/index.html

When it turns blue (highlighted) press down right mouse button and
click on the word "copy".

Now go to the white address bar, click once on left mouse button, then
once on right mouse button and click on the word "paste".
You should see the address for the Dallas Observer appear and then you
can press the large "enter" or "return" key to get to the newspaper
website.

When you have finished with that newspaper clear the address bar again
and repeat with the Morning News address:
http://classifieds.dallasnews.com/

I have asked the editors at Google Answers to see if they can do
anything to help things run more smoothly for you.

Good luck. Hope it works for you this time.

Brooks,

The e-mail addresses of the various papers will not allow you to read
the papers online, they will only allow you to contact these papers.

What you want are the URLs (Uniform Resource Locators), also called
"web addresses", which lot-ga provided for you in his answer here:

https://answers.google.com/answers/main?cmd=threadview&id=35315

I've double checked all of his links, and they do function (with the
exception of the Dallas Examiner. They haven't updated their
classified page since 1997). I suspect the problem may lie with AOL.
Instead of clicking the links, highlight (hold down your left mouse
button and "draw" over the link) and copy (click your right mouse
button and select "Copy") each one, and paste (place your cursor in
the location bar, click the left button once, then click the right
button and select "Paste") it into the location bar of your browser,
then click Go.

It will take you right to the pages.
