Have you tried booting into safe mode? If you can, start, run,
msconfig[ok] and see if there is something amiss in your startup tab.

Hi, I had ME for a year or so. IT was nothing but problems!! The BEST
thing I ever did was upgrade to XP.

try deleting the .tmp files. those files are mainly temporary files
and needs to be cleaned once in a while. i had heaps of them somewhere
20-40 mb once when i deleted them. you can find them in temp directory
inside c:\windows

p.s make a backup of that file its saying there is a error before
deleting just in case.

Try downloading and installing adaware. Sounds like it might help. You
might have to download it from another machine and copy it onto this
machine. Don't forget to get the updates before you do the scan.
You'll see what I'm talking about when you run it.
