What would be the cheapest, most efficient and intelligent route to becoming an accountant in the US? Educational background so far: BS in Health Sciences from well-known university, 2 years of computer classes, plus 2 years of full-time bookkeeping experience. I reside in Washington State in close proximity to a community college and a large University. I'm in my late-twenties with few financial responsibilities but i don't really want to accrue a large debt. At the same time, i don't want to come off as some kind of slouch to any prospective employers. I received a 4.0 at a semi-Ivy League University and don't want that to outshine this other attempt at educating myself TOO much. Maybe that's too much information??!? Anyway, thank you to whoever can do a little research for me! eatingsandwiches |

"Accountant" is a very broad job description. Do you have any specific job or career you are looking towards? Bookkeeper? Accounts payable clerk? Financial Analyst? Tax accountant? Auditor? Public accounting firm? CPA?...Most states now require a B.S. in accounting including a minimum of 5 years college education to sit for the CPA exam. Not your answer, but this info might help one of the real google researchers answer your question better. Good Luck! |
