I know some stations are now broadcasting in DTV (as well as HDTV)
off-air, as in you can receive it with a simple antenna. Do cable
providers, however, broadcast those same channels in DTV - or are
those stations still analog? (Mind you, I know the difference between
DTV and digital cable offerings).
Thanks. |

Sort of - I know that cable companies offer HDTV (typically for an
additional fee) - but are the broadcast channels (ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX,
PBS) 'broadcast' in DTV over the cable network?
Thanks again.

I suppose a situation might help...
I'm planning on getting ATi's HDTV All-in-Wonder, when it comes out.
Now, I know that I could receive HD and DTV programs off-air. I know
that I can receive HDTV from the cable network itself -- but can I
receive DTV channels? Is there really a difference?

My local cable provider, Cox, offers local channels in high-definition format.
What cable provider are you interested in, and in what location? I'll
be glad to check it out for you.

It would be Service Electric in Easton, PA (Allentown, PA, I suppose)
-- I checked that page, and sifted through the Service Electric
comments -- I'm not looking for HDTV services by the cable provider,
but rather DTV services on the broadcast channels (ABC, NBC, etc..)
OVER the cable network and NOT off-air.
Thanks!

Yes,
I suppose that is the best answer - save actually traveling there!
There was a report of DTV over cable in Allentown, so that helps.
Thanks again!
