How to find the proper christian church

Can you give us more information? Finding the right church is very
important, but it would be helpful if we knew more about you, about
your beliefs, and about what you want from a church. Some people
prefer large, active churches with many social groups, while others
thrive in small, studious church communities. Please give us more to
go on. I'm sure we can help you.

Another thing that will be very helpful will be knowing where you live
(not your address, of course -- just the nation, state or province,
and city).

I live in Calgary, Canada. I am looking for a proper Christian Church.
By "proper", I mean having doctrines considered sound by most
christian scholars and not heretic, and not too liberal, showing
christian virtue of love and compassion. Size of the church do not
matter very much. I have a young son with special need, and I want to
find a place that will accept and receive him, so that we can go
worship as a family. There are so many christian denominations and
groups out there, that it is quite confusing. I am basically a
fundamental protestant christian.

Dear Hota,

Here are several places where you can find a church of your liking. By
the way, my experience teaches that the atmosphere in a church - the
acceptance of your son, for example - depends on the people who attend
that church, not less (in my opinion more) than it depend on the the
specific denomination or stream it belongs to.

Evangelical-Lutheran
Shepherd King Lutheran Church
804 75 Avenue Sw
Calgary, AB T2V0S5 CA
Phone: 403-255-5488

Menonite - Canadian Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches.

Intl. Church of Christ (apparently, not Scientists, but an evangelical group):
International Christian Church of Calgary
at the South Calgary Community Association building
3130 16th Street SW
Calgary, AB, T2T 4G7
Phone: 403-547-9504

Calgary Worship Centre

Calgary, Alberta

Independent Baptist - Fundamentalist
Western Baptist Church, 4324 19th Ave. NW, Calgary, AB T3B 0R7.

If my selection of chuches here does not suit you, the site
Find-a-Church offers 182 churches in calgary, hopefully one of them
would fit you:

ending>

(if that link didn't work for you, try :
<http://www.findachurch.com/a_hme/hme_hme.asp> and search for a church).

Good luck for you and your son!

many people choose a church that "suits" them, like buying a suit, not
too tight here, not uncomfortable there, rather than seeking truth.
Are the major doctrines true...i.e. immortal soul, hell fire,
trinity... Many people would be surprised to find that major teachings
of most churches were not taught by Christ or his apostles but were
decided on in the 4th century. Will the church you select condone
sending young men to war if called on by gov't? Will it condone
practices God condemns such as homosexuality? Or will it produce
peaceful, moral people living by God's standards? Your confusion over
religions is understandable as Jesus foretold that there would be many
false Christian in our time. see matthew 13: 24-30 and the explanation
37-44.
