I have a brand new dell CPU with 640 megs of memory. It has been working great until I downloaded stuff from the internet. I have since downloaded AD-aware and Spybot an dthey have been working great. Only now I think I may have deleted something in windows that shouldn't have been. Most programs open fast with the exception of my WinPlayer and Jukebox programs as well as my Microsoft Ofiice programs. They usually open fast but have been rather slow lately. When I click on my desktop to open my properties or to change my screen saver the computer takes forever to open the properties bar and even longer to make changes in the properties menu. The same for the screen savers and it even told me that it was unable to open screensavers that were preprogramed into the machine when I got it. What can I do get this corrected without having to reinstall Windows? Is it a drivers issue? Thanks. | |

A few clarifications here: 1. Dell made the PC, not the CPU. Is it a celeron, a athlon or a pentium ? 2. You mentioned ad-ware searchers. Have you tried a virus scan ? |

Your problem is extremely vague. I suggest you bring it to a shop and if necessary, get Windows re-installed. The point above regarding viruses is also very valid as a first step, though. |

Are you connected to the internet when this problem happens? If yes, log off and see if problem goes away. If it does, then you have a spy program that may be transferring info. over the internet and it's taking tons of CPU power plus Harddrive time. Good Luck. |

With absolute certainty a reinstallation of windows from the zero, that is, not to install windows on the current one, will decide the problem |
