?At Universal Studios Hollywood his designs include Backdraft,
Earthquake, Back To The Future, Alfred Hitchcock, Harry and the
Hendersons, and the Rugrats Magical Adventure.?
Ruzika?s work is apparently widely known and his efforts have been
copiously rewarded over time:
?Ruzika's theatrical designs have received numerous Critics Circle
Awards and his architectural lighting designs have received national
and international design awards. Tom was recently presented the
Lifetime Achievement Award in Lighting from the Los Angeles Drama
Critics Circle and the distinguished alumni award at Cal Poly Pomona.

thx, i asked 4 u bcuz i viewed your answers to other questions...and
you are great...i put a calll into ruzika but I dont think he created
the fire vortex...it was probably a special effects company in
california...i need to know which one...is there a phone number i can
call into to enter my google answer questions to? and so when i get
home can check my email and there will be a ga resonse?

No, sorry. This is it. I'll look around a bit more and se what I can
come up with but everything I've seen so far indicated that Ruzkia was
indeed the designer of the Backdraft attraction at Universal Studios.

According to this document, the pyrotechnic control system for the
Backdraft attraction (known as PyroConductor) was designed by Steve
Birket, PE MBA, of Birket Engineering, Inc., a company that
specializes in control systems and software for theme parks.

The design apparently ?was? Ruzika?s, but the actual system that
control's the attraction's pyrotechnic events and create the illusion
seems to have been put together and controlled by Birket?s system.
