Hi.

An article appeared about Margaret Heckler appeared a couple years ago
in the Washington Post. It's reproduced mid-way down in this
newsgroups post:
http://groups.google.com/groups?q=%22margaret+heckler+is%22&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&selm=uk1js5qs07l394%40corp.supernews.com&rnum=1

As indicated in that article, Ms Heckler is alive and well, despite an
attack by her late ex-husband's swan.

Ms Heckler lives in Arlington, Virginia, and was quoted in the Boston
Globe as recently as last week:

"this illustration from Margaret M. Heckler, a Massachusetts
Republican elected to Congress in 1966. She held the seat until 1982
-- when she lost to Democrat Barney Frank, compliments of a
redistricting plan orchestrated, she recalls, by the legendary House
Speaker Thomas P. O'Neill Jr.
Heckler, who now lives in Arlington, Va., says her showdown with
O'Neill came after she voted in favor of the budget package proposed
by the new Republican president, Ronald Reagan. When she told Reagan
she would stick with him on the budget; she recalls then Vice
President George Bush, who was in the room, saying, "She is going to
pay the price."
Contends Heckler: "It cost me the election." When Republicans in
Congress united behind Reagan, "Tip O'Neill was shocked . . . he was
furious at me. I knew it in my bones. I knew it was a sacrificial
vote."

As for a "job," at age 73, she's presumably retired.

Also, Ms Heckler was identified as one of the mourners at President
Reagan's funeral, in this MSNBC transcript:
