I?ve been playing PC games for well over a decade, and used mouse/keyboard always, for control. Playing Unreal tournament 2004 last night, I thought there must be something better out there by now. I?m certainly not a power gamer, usually just play computer AI. I?m looking for forums, articles, comparisons any thing out there about gaming pads or alternatives. The last thing I?ve tried years ago, was a ?joystick?. . I?ve remember seeing briefly somewhere that mouse/keyboard is still the way to go. But I?ve destroyed a keyboard or two, in frustration during a game (heh). I know a tab about MS?s Sidewinder in usb ports, and played a small amount of PS-2?s and X-boxes game pads. Didn?t like them much. Maybe because I?m too used to mouse/keyboard. And besides, I want to have a decent controller for Doom3! Any information on controllers for PC?s, that?s reasonable in depth, by unbiased (not company?s own appraisals ) ?experts? would be great. So I can buy a good controller Thanks! |

I am an electronics engineer and avid gamer and would suggest that if you have a USB port, use it. There are several things you could use such as hotkeys, Gravis gamepads, and wireless trackball mice. I understand the want for a mouse because I am a big fan of Counter Strike Condition Zero because you can control movement and aim in seperate hands. The hotkey pads I prefer because if you are only going to use a few keys and not the whole 104 keys then you just have to narrow it down, it is lighter and you can use it the same as though it were a gamepad. they come in several sizes and they are darn good stuff. I don't sell them but I buy them and really like them. |
