Hi ejbibo,

The origin of the name "Bibo" is German, and the name has a historic
Coat of Arms associated with it. The Coat of Arms contains Silver
shield with a red rooster standing on a cushion.

"JJKent" ( www.lastname.com ) have researched and written an 1800-word
history on the name 'Bibo', which you can order from their site for
$14.95. They offer a "money back guarantee" if you are not satisfied.

Here's a small excerpt:

"Spelling variations include: Bibbow, Bibo, Bibbo, Biboe, Bibboe,
Bible, Bibble and others.

First found in Mecklenburg, where the name could be considered to make
a great early contribution to the feudal society which became the
backbone of early development of Europe.

Some of the first settlers of this name or some of its variants were:
Bernhard Bibo, who arrived in Philadelphia, Pa. in 1856; Jacob Bibo,
age 22; settled in Texas in 1845."

From genealogical information from other family members the Bibo's
lived in Hungary in the early 1500's and were Jewish.

I do not think Bibo originated in Germany. I do know that there are
Bibo's in Germany but think they came from a country further east.

I suggest you to post in your questions all the info that you can in
order to get an answer that fit your needs. A good question leads to a
good answer!!

For example your question can be rewritten as follows and the answer
(if any) would be good for you:
"My last name is Bibo & I want to find out the origin or meaning of my last name.
Take into account that from genealogical information from other family
members the Bibo's lived in Hungary in the early 1500's and were
Jewish."

Regards.
