"Going, going, gone" was the catchphrase of Harry Hartman, the first
radio announcer for the Cincinnati Reds baseball team. Starting in
1929, Hartman adapted an old auctioneers' cry and used it as a home
run call:

"Night games debut and the assaults on baseballs begin when the words
'going, going, gone' are spoken almost daily during the legendary
Lively Ball Era...

1929 Harry Hartman is first announcer to say "Going, going, gone."

Baseball Almanac

"1929: Going, Going, Gone!

Harry Hartman of Cincinnati becomes the first radio announcer to
pioneer the 'Going, Going, Gone!' phrase to announce a home run."

Historic Baseball

"The title of Hartman's play comes from the phrase Harry Hartman
coined on the radio to herald a home run, "Going, going gone."
