Hi slickwatts,

Show Desktop Icon is Missing

Copy and paste the five lines below into Notepad.

[Shell]
Command=2
IconFile=explorer.exe,3
[Taskbar]
Command=ToggleDesktop

Then save it as Show Desktop.scf and drag it to your quick launch bar.

Let's Fix Your "Show Desktop" Icon
http://www.thundercloud.net/infoave/tips/restore-showdesktop.htm

"Let's learn how to restore a missing "Show Desktop" Icon. The little
icon that appears in your Quick Launch toolbar (don't know what a
"Quick Launch" tool bar is? Click here .) that lets you instantly
access your desktop, no matter how many Windows you have open (and if
you remember from Issue #58, if you click it again the windows you had
open are right back where they were)."

[edit]

This is for users of Windows 98/ME/NT/2000/XP.

Select "Start", "Find", "Files or Folders" or "Start", "Search", "For
Files or Folders".

In the "Named" box, type "Show Desktop.scf" (including the quotation
marks). Specify "Local Hard Drives" in the "Look In " field.

Click "Find Now", and hopefully the "Find" utility will locate a copy
of this file. When it does, drag the file from the "Find" window to
the Quick Launch bar to place a Show Desktop icon there! If your
search turns up empty...keep reading!

Use Notepad (or any text editor) to create a file with the following lines:

Shell]
Command=2
IconFile=explorer.exe,3

[Taskbar]
Command=ToggleDesktop

Those lines must be typed exactly as you see them. The spacing,
punctuation, and capitalization is very important.

Save the new file as .

Then choose "File", "Save As" "Show Desktop.scf" (be sure to add the
quotation marks to prevent Notepad from adding its default "TXT"
extension), and save it in the folder where Quick Launch items are
stored.

To find this folder, right-click an empty area of the Quick Launch
toolbar and choose "Open". If you have trouble finding the Quick
Launch folder you can save the "Show Desktop.scf" file on your
desktop.

You can then drag it to your Quick Launch toolbar.

below will recreate the file.

Open Notepad and enter the following text:

[Shell]
Command=2
IconFile=explorer.exe,3
[Taskbar]
Command=ToggleDesktop

Save the new file as Show Desktop.scf then drag and drop the icon on
the Quick Launch bar or whatever location you want the shortcut to
appear
