Would like a list of makers or sellers of 3 wheel adult bicycles which
are rated to carry 300 lbs or more. No electric motors or low riders,
just the old fashioned type of 3 wheeler that oldtimers ride. Puncture
proof tires a plus!

Hello blufford,

   I have compiled list of three wheel bicycles for you, none of
which are the recumbent or electric styles. The list is not a *long*
list, as sellers of this type of bike are not plentiful!

Industrial Bicycles
===============================================================
I spoke to a salesman at Industrial Bicycles who told me that all of
their models support weights up to 350 pounds, and that a 24? model is
the correct size for people with heights ranging from 5?3? to 6?2?
tall.

Desoto Classic  $338.39 USD
http://www.industrialbicycles.com/desoto%20classic.htm

Por-o-trike $415.99 USD. This model fold for storage and transport!
http://www.industrialbicycles.com/portotrike.htm

For weight over 350 pounds, the salesman recommended this model:
The three wheel Hefty Hauler, $734.99 USD

National Guild
======================================
Worksman Tricycles at National Guild
http://nationalguild.com/Worksman/adaptable.html
I called the website at 800-832-2992, and spoke to Mary. She was most
courteous and referred me to the bike manufacturer for weight specs,
888-394-3353. There I spoke to Jillian, who told me all the bikes on
this page support 450-500 pounds. You can see there is a broad range
of styles and prices, so I will refer you to the link at the start of
this paragraph for further information.

This Worksman site lists the weight that each three wheeler supports:

Walt?s Cycle
======================================
This site has several models, but most do list weight specs. I called
and spoke with a salesman who told me this model supports up to 500
pounds:
Atlas Industrial Trike II
http://www.waltscycle.com/trikes.htm#atlas

The salesman also said that tires that come on an industrial or cargo
carrying bike are made to handle the weight. You can, however order
mountain tires, if you choose or optional puncture-proof tires:
?Optional Equipment Solid lightweight puncture-proof tires: $120.00
for set or $44.98 ea

Draisin
======================================
German built three wheelers, seemingly very adaptable and comfy, as it
can be used for folks with handicaps!
?Our ?Trici? is the universal tricycle for most needs and handicaps.
It meets almost everyone?s requirements. Our size adjustment
technology allows for the adjustment to various body sizes. Therefore,
this model can be used by children as well as adults. This model is
available as an affordable exercise cycle or as a high quality street
cycle with comfortable hydraulic brakes and other features.?

This page displays several three wheel models:

By e-mailing them, you will likely get an answer about weight
restriction on these models. I could not call Germany! ;-)

You can find contact information here:

======================================
Circle City Bicycles
(Say THAT three times fast!) carries pretty much the same models
already listed, except Draisin. I am including this site in the case
another site may be out of stock.

Sun Bicycles
The Miami Sun Tri-Wheeler supports only 250 pounds, but I am including
it here, as a possible source for you. (they may have some advice or
additional models)
This site can locate local dealers of the Miami Sun Tri-wheeler
http://www.sunbicycles.com/03/html_03/trikes_home.html

On this page, enter your state and model, and you?ll find a local
dealer for the Miami Sun. You may save in shipping costs if you bought
locally!

The online manual, found here, (it is a slow download) gives tips for
riding and using a three wheeler!

Additional Information:
=======================

I?d recommend a wide or gel padded seat. Bicycle riding on a regular
seat has been implicated in neuropathies and prostatitis!

About bike tires and maintenance:
http://www.fridrichs.com/maintenance.html

You can request the best tires from any site from which you may make
your purchse, or buy from another location and install them yourself.
Walt's Cycles listed the option of puncture-proof tires right on the
page. Buy tires:
http://www.bikepro.com/ad_copy/tire_tube.html

I hope this gives you a sufficient number of locations to shop! Who
would have *thunk* that this type of bike would be so scarce? If you
have any questions about my answer, please request an Answer
Clarification, before rating, and I will be glad to assist you
further, if possible.
