I'm trying to find out some information. I have a good idea of what I want, but I'm not sure how to find it. I have a new website I'm putting together called templatesmith.com and I want a logo of a worker hitting an anvil with a hammer. I want the theme of the site to be in a 1950's industrial type of style, like the "the rocketeer" artwork I've seen. I'm having trouble finding information about this type of artwork. So I'd like to know what this style called so I can find someone that can do it for me. |

The Rocketeer Poster looks art deco to me. It's more 1930's or 40's rather than 1950's. You might be able to find an image like the one you want at http://www.veer.com. Do an illustration search on the word "hammer". Also http://www.csaimages.com owns many spot illustrations including ones from the 30's 40's and 50's. If you go with an outside illustrator, you should be able to show them some examples from these sources, plus the Rocketeer poster and they should understand the style you're looking for. |
