Best estimate is circa 1994-95. Next best guess is plus or minus another year. Thank you for continuing to work on this question. |

The person may currently live in Pennsylvania. This is not verified. Argh: another useless clue -- the person built a new house for themselves within the last several years. |

Thanks for the year - sorry for the dealy in replying I've been away for the weekend. I'm not a researcher but the question intrigued me. Is there any chance London may not refer to London, UK? Death from the type of crime you describe is quite rare in London, UK especially when it happens to a tourist or visitor and even more so if they were related to a celebrity. Such a crime would get lots of media coverage and yet searching is showing up nothing. |

I agree with all your comments, but it was UK. It may have been a neighborhood, such as Brixton. Myself and another fairly sober person recall seeing media coverage, probably in something like Newsweek or Time. Our memory puts it in the 1980's but the other data points to circa '94 and I trust the data over our memories. It was because it was such a rare sort of thing that we both have vague memories of it. Some have suggested that the story was too pre-internet to appear via searches. I have no feel for how much old media archives have made it online. |

I live in London and can't recall any such crime in the mid 90's - not saying it didn't happen maybe there were bigger stories that took all the column inches or the link to the celebrity parents was ignored. I can post a link to a online UK news archive that goes back to 1985 if you want - I've tried searching it with no luck. I'll keep looking and do let me know if you solve riddle. |

I am going to take a few days to review the information I have and will return here in a few days. In the mean time, could you look at that archive with an eye to the possibility the young lady died in a traffic accident or other accident, but the other parameters are the same? Thanks. |

How accurate are your clues? I found a 50 year-old, American actress that comes close to matching the description. One of her best roles was a voice for a cartoon character. Her father was an American diplomat to the UK. Her only daughter is still alive, but she was in a movie where her son was murdered. I don?t know where she lives now, but a few years ago, she checked into a rehab clinic in Pennsylvania. She married a successful, but not famous, realtor. But, she has the same last name as a very well-known businessman, and there?s more than one message board on the internet that tries to link them together. Could this be her? |

ST Black is deceased, isn't she? This person is alive. I am trying to sort disinformation from fact as carefully as possible, but I cannot be 100% certain of anything except the death of the only daughter and some degree of celebrioty status. And wealth. I will consider the 50 year old actress and respond. |

I decided you must mean K Turner, but alas, it is not her. Impressive deduction nonetheless. More and more I am thinking that the person may be British, not American. They say "wee" all the time, as in "wee kitten." But it could be an affectation. Thank you for continuing to participate in this most challenging puzzler. I have solved some difficult who-am-I puzzles in the past, but this one has had me working for a full year. |

Now I am hooked.... Wee is Scottish or Nothern Irish though (not brittish). If you're searching you should probably include those terms. |

Maybe it's time to crack open Burke's Peerage for Scots. Is there an American consulate in Scotland? Could the tragedy have happened during a diplomatic post there? |

"Wee is Scottish or Nothern Irish though (not brittish)" Hate to be pedantic but both Scotland and Northern Ireland are part of Britain. But you'd be right in saying that not many ENGLISH people would say "wee". Not helpful, I know! |

Too young by decades. Also too frivolous. This is a tough question but I am surprised we are not doing better. |

I have now learned that the person is between 40 and 55, probably late forties. Only child was the deceased daughter. |
