I once got daily updates of music (mp3) of new and old artist.
Ambient, New Age, Jazz, rock music. Some of the artist were unknowns
but were great and from all over the world ... the site told a bit
about the artist and listed all of his or her songs and/or albums and
you could listen to them or download them. Every day I got a list.
At one time they sent me some music by William Buda and Cumulus ...
they were new to my ears ... It had pictures of their album covers and
you could hear the total song or part of it ... please help me find it
...

There are many, many sites which offer emailed newsletters related to mp3 music.

This is one of the best for finding music by independent artists:

http://www.mp3.com/

Does the site linked above look familiar? If not, any additional clues
would be helpful.

The website was one wherein they did not send you a newsletter. The
website sent you a listing of about 20 artists. These artists were
unknowns. You would click on one of the artists and his or her page
would have all of the songs of that album. Additionally each artists
summarized their pieces with information on why it was done, where it
was done ... what frame of mind they were in. Next to the artist's
name was a few words describing their kind of music. It was not a
newsletter. It was a listing of musicians/artists that were unknown
... this was a forum where you could download the whole album ... and
there was absolutely NO cost involved. The actual website was done a
bit more tastefully than mp3.com. Now I did download a few of the
songs ... and I tried to get the properties of the download ... but I
cannot ascertain where I got it ... if there were some way I could
look at that piece of music and see what site I got it ... that surely
would help. I am a great researcher ... and mp3.com was one of the
sites I looked at ... it came closest to the one that I remember ...
but it is not the one ...

Have you tried searching IUMA (Internet Underground Music Archive) for
those mp3s of independent bands and unsigned artists?

Many times the site source is revealed in the file name. You may
likewise want to contact the artists directly and inquire as to the
sites where their music is available for download.

SignHere Online (http://www.signhereonline.net) features a growing
catalog of original mp3 music by unsigned artists. The appeal of this
site is that the listener can voluntarily rate the artist and music.
Ratin g results are tabulated and made available for record label
review.
