The comment by forge-ga below is generally correct, with the added
limitation being that not all telephone company central offices have
been upgraded to support DSL. The following page provides a good

As you can see from the map, there are MANY areas in the US where DSL
(or cable) access is non-existent.

Theres lots, anything that is outside of 4km or so from the closest
telephone CO. Call the local phone company and give them an address,
or area and they should be able to tell you if DSL service is
available in that area.
