Question ID: 368865
I would like to know where I can get the pre-release alpha version of
Unreal Tournament 2004. This pre-release was used for demonstrations
to show people what was to come in the final public release of UT
2004. I have the public release, but I'd like to know where I can get
the alpha release as well, just so that I can install it and see how
much different it is from the public version. I've seen "shaky-cam"
footage of the alpha release and noticed a lot of things that were
slightly different from the public release, in the alpha release and
would like to see what else is different.

Ideally, I'd like to be able to just click a URL that you send me and
begin downloading the alpha immediately.

And if you can, while you're at it, find any files related to the
alpha release as well, such as patches or mods (modifications)
associated with the alpha release. Websites talking about the alpha
release would also be greatly appreciated.

I've given it some more thought, and what I'm really after here is
ANYTHING related to UT 2004 that's different from the retail version.
This could be screenshots from beta or alpha versions of UT 2004,
video clips, anything, but above all, I want the pre-release version
of UT 2004, whether it be alpha or beta.

The problem with this is that it is almost game piracy. You might own
the gmae, but having it on the net means that it is avaible to pretty
much everybody. If the publishers found any website hosting the game
they would be forced to remove it.

I never thought of that. I do in fact own the retail version. But I
think the alpha/beta pre-release was a demo, much like the official
demo that was released before it went retail, except this early
pre-release was slightly different from the official demo. So if the
early alpha/beta version were publicly available, I don't think it
would hurt the companies behind it since it would still have the same
limited functionality of the official demo. The only thing that might
make this illegal is that the early pre-release version probably
wasn't meant to be made public so it might have been withheld from the
public under a Non-Disclosure Agreement, though I doubt even that's
true because there are numerous "shaky-cam" videos showing off the
early pre-release of UT 2004.
