I've asked this before, and closed out the question a bit prematurely. Let me set the scene: On Ebay, I see fine fragrances such as Drakkar Noir, Acqua Di Gio, etc going for prices significantly below department store and even "discount store" prices. Often, they're "White Box" testers, but sometimes full retail packaging. Where are these people getting these from? My past attempts to find fragrance "wholesalers" have overwhelmingly led me to web sites offering "wholesale prices" to end consumers, but the giveaway is twofold: their cheesy, unprofessional layout, and the lack of requirement of a state resale certificate. I need some solid trade leads here, and I'm willing to pay well and tip well for good information. |

Dear PV Ventures, Just a comment... From what I know eBay is not an authorized channel for these brands. Somehow the products are leaking into unauthorized channels. I know that certain products are bought abroad at lower retail prices and then resell on eBay. Pricing is different for different countries. People still have to pay customs, taxes, and transportation, but that is still cheaper than the inflated retail prices in the US. Be careful with this. Tiffany & Co. is now sueing eBay since it is allowing to sell its products in these channels, where it cannot control quality, and thus pricing. While it seems like a great thing to do, it is not totally legal. This is what's called the "grey market". Claudietta |

I myself, would never buy any of these products online from any kind of discount website for one reason. I travel alot to Southeast Asia and know for a fact that they are making and mixing their own concoctions, trying to get as close as they can to the right smell and color. I remember one kind of perfume that I fell in love with and the work I had to do to find another with the same fragrance. It was amazing how some of them weren't even close. I'm not saying they're all home brews but I know many are - depending where you are. |
