President Ronald Reagan did not speak at or even attend the 50th
Anniversary of D-Day ceremonies ? President Clinton did. By 1994 Mr.
Reagan?s deteriorating condition would no longer permit him travel or
to make public appearances. Reagan did, however, render a speech at
the 40th Anniversary memorial service.
Many copies of the text of Ronald Reagan?s speech on Jun 6, 1984 do
not contain everything he actually said. It is fairly easy to find
most portion so f the speech but for some reason only the highlights
of it became publicly available. This is an unabridged copy of the
speech that is believed to contain, in it?s entirety, what Mr. Reagan
said to a large group of World War II Veterans at Pointe du Hoc,
France that day:
