Question ID: 369282
does a service exist where i can call an operator and ask for
information from the internet?
For example: I am in Los Angeles and need a blueprint co. in
santamonica - information 411 cannot help with out a business name -
the internet could find the entire list. Like having a personal
assistant sitting at a computer waiting for your call. This call could
be to anywhere - hopefully domestic.

THESE COMMENTS ARE HELPFUL - I APPRECIATE IT!
BECAUSE IT DOES NOT EXIST DOES IT MEAN MY QUESTION IS NOT ANSWERED?
FOR WHAT ITS WORTH
CELL PHONES SHOULD HAVE A "411" FOR A $ A 1.00 MINUTE SERVICE FOR
INTERNET SEARCH.
BETWEEN SITTING ON YOUR CELL AND SEARCHING FOR OBSCURITIES THEY WOULD MAKE A BUNDLE.

There is no answer at this time.

There was one once and I can't remember it's name I don't think it exists anymore.

The service that mister2u-ga is thinking of was AskPronto.com, the
now-defunct service offered by i3 Mobile. For a flat monthly fee
($19.95), subscribers could call into the automated, attended system
to obtain information or request simple concierge-type services such
as the Internet searches mentioned in the question. A previous
question about this:

could not be answered as no new players have entered this service
space yet. The most likely will be the eventual extension of OnStar
services once they complete their technology migration from analog to
digital, and have arrangements in place with the major cellular
service providers to access the GPS data from GPS-equipped cellphones,
and/or the location of the customer as determined through current LBS
technology.

Try calling your local public library. Often they will look up simple
searches for you over the telephone.
