I got laid off a couple of years ago. I had a contractual severance
package with my employer of 6 mos of salary plus the availability of
COBRA.

They cancelled their insurance coverage so that we were not elligible for
cobra (nothing I can do about that, checked with the state), and
ceased sending the severance pay after one check.

They owe me over $50K in back severance. I figured I had a "blood from a stone"
situation, however, they've recently conducted transactions that show
that they have cash and that they will be earning revenues, and I want
my money.

I have a complete paper trail with officer signatures. I'm going to
send them a demand letter via certified mail whilst I try to locate a
lawyer.

My questions are

A) In Florida, I've heard that if an employer loses a lawsuit such as
this they will have to pay triple. Is that the case? If not, what laws
are in place that will help me leverage my position and get my money.

B) Also, I'm trying to locate a lawyer in FL that will work on contingency.

Please provide a link to a resource that will answer questions (a) and
please provide me with links to 5-10 florida lawyers that deal with
this type of issue and may work on contingency (b).

Please note that I now live out of state and am no longer a FL resident.

Thank you!
