Do you have to use Quicken to do this? There are lots of free stand-alone programs that will do this... You might even be interested in something like http://eiffel-mas.sourceforge.net/ which has graphs, etc. Might be a bit technical to use and get started, though. http://finance.yahoo.com is another place that can provide you with this information and you don't have to download or install anything. Alternative to that, there might be a configuration option in Quicken (which year version, please?) to connect to the Internet on startup. I am not a Google Answers Researcher. |

Hi there Thanks for your interest in my problem. I use Quicken Personal Plus for this so that it automatically ties in with the personal tax information that I enter as part of managing my personal finances. I was aware of Yahoo and other sites, but it still means that I have to manually enter these figures everyday into Quicken Personal Plus. And with 20 securities it defeats the purpose of having an automatic download. I am using Quicken Personal Plus version 2004. There are no other settings in Quicken to configure - I've looked high and low. Thanks |

Hmm... I have something http://www.melbpc.org.au/pcupdate/2110/2110article6.htm that tells how to import shares into Quicken... This doesn't help you terribly on the face of it, because it has a bit of setup and isn't automatic. This may help: http://rjsoft.com/Products/QuickStkI/index.asp Google Search: automate quicken securities import I would SERIOUSLY recommend making a backup and archiving it before playing with this. (I'd recommend making backups anyway. It *is* your finance information.) PS: I'd recommend getting a USB key to hold the backup. It's small, a 128MB version will be more than adequate, and it's re-writeable. (and it's about $30). Froogle search: usb 128 key drive :) I really hope that second link will help you. |
