One of my clients has a Windows XP computer that sometimes refuses to
send 'post' web forms. This affects both IE and Mozilla identically,
so this appears to be a bug in XP.

On bootup and first connection the browsers usually can send 'post'
forms. But after a while (unsure of the trigger), IE starts saying
"Cannot find server" and Mozilla starts saying "The document contains
no data" when a 'post' based form is submitted. After this happens,
the only way to restore functionality is to reboot (sometimes more
than once). All other web functionality works fine, including random
surfing and submitting 'get' forms.

The computer is running XP and is attached to an external modem. XP
has not been updated because there's an issue with Microsoft update.
It suffers from the "Software Update page repeatedly displays 'Update
Now' button" error, which Microsoft acknowledge in their
troubleshooting guide and state "We are still researching this issue".
Don't know if this is related.
But I'm just interested in getting 'post' forms working.

The client is at a remote location and isn't very technical, so
talking him through command-line debugging over the phone would be
nice to avoid.

Have the user try the new version of Mozilla (or Firefox). The
problem existed in Mozilla v1.2 (I believe) and has been fixed in
later versions. (IE may have had the same bug, as this is a problem
with complex interaction.)
