Do you mean the one in Chicago? There are Palmer House Hotels in
other cities. Any other details about the dining-room would help us
be sure which one you are referring to.

Greetings! The floor plans for the Palmer House in Chicago are
located at
http://space.pcma.org/Hilton/PalmerH/floorplans3.htm

There is the Empire Room on the Lobby Level, and the Wabash, Crystal
and Crest Hill rooms are located on the third floor. There are also
numerous dining rooms labeled "salons" and "private", which bear no
proper names.

The phone number for the Palmer House in Chicago is (312) 726-7500 and
you might phone them to ascertain further details about names of the
private rooms and salons: they may be used for dining as well.

I searched "Palmer House dining room Cresthill" at Google, "Cresthill"
being found in a general "Palmer House Chicago dining" search and it
returned the floor plan site link.

If this proves to answer your question, please post that you accept
journalist-ga answer and I will repost this as an answer. I am
hesitant to do so at this time because I want to be certain you want
the Palmer House in Chicago.

ADDENDUM: I have also located the history, so if you accept my text
as an answer I will include the history when I post the clarification
as an answer.

The answer I was looking for is the Empire Room. The "Pump Room" is in
another hotel nearby. What is the name of that hotel?

Sorry--those are individual restaurants within the hotel, not names of dining rooms.

The Pump Room is located at the Omni Ambassador East Hotel.

It appears that the original researcher did provide you with the
answer your requested. One of the comments identified the hotel
location of The Pump Room correctly as well. I thought I would add a
note about the Pump Room. Many years ago, it had a feature that
presaged the cell phone. If you were dining at the Pump Room, you
could have the maitre'd bring a telephone to your table so you could
make calls while you were dining. It was on a long wire or could be
plugged in near your table, I don't recall which. The Palmer House
(now a Hilton) and the Ambassador East (now an Omni) were two of the
most popular hotels in Chicago in the early 60's when I traveled there
frequently. They had very active bars, big city rooms (small and
expensive), and their own group of characters. Many fond memories of
the Windy City from these locations which are about 1.75 miles apart
with the Palmer House being within the loop and the Ambassador East on
the very near North side. Thanks for asking this question to bring up
these wonderful memories.

I would say that journalist-ga has nicely covered your primary
question.

In regard to your secondary question about the Pump Room in Chicago,
it is located in the Omni Ambassador East Hotel.

The Pump Room has its own Web site, here:
