Hi erym,

I have found the statistics you are seeking for the years 1986-1996
outlined online. Statistics for the periods 1997-2001 and 1998-2002
are available in book form (for purchase or perhaps your local library
would have them or be able to get them).

Please let me know if you would like me to post the links to the
statistics and books as an answer.

Thank you, will look forward to hearing from you - please let me know
if you have any questions.

Hi erym,

Okey dokey, here is what I have found. Between two organizations, The
World Tourism Organization and The World Travel & Tourism Council, you
should be able to get a pretty good idea of travel trends. Please have
a look and let me know how I can be of further assistance. Sorry to
say, I don't have access to the books.

WTO
The World Tourism Organization:
"MORE THAN 75 YEARS OF TOURISM EXPERIENCE"

WTTC
The World Travel & Tourism Council:
"When the World Travel & Tourism Council was established in 1990, it
immediately recognised that in order to raise awareness of the
powerful impact that Travel & Tourism has on employment and the
economy, it was necessary to produce thorough and credible research.
As such, one of our first challenges was to develop a method for
researching and measuring the economic impact of tourism on national
economies. Over the past 14 years WTTC has worked with various
economic consultants and researchers to improve its methodologies and
to encourage individual countries to enhance their measurement and
understanding of tourism?s impact on their national economies. In
partnership with Oxford Economic Forecasting (OEF), WTTC undertakes
TSA research on an annual basis."

thanks for the effort hummer
i need updated statistics and i currently don't have access to the
publications you mentioned.
i believe each country's government would have such statistics. if
you speak Spanish and Portuguese, or can find someone who can do so,
the information is likely to be found on the web too

Hi erym,

I'm sorry if you misunderstood my clarification request - I posted it
first before posting it as an answer to make sure the data I found
would be suitable for you.

"I have found the statistics you are seeking for the years 1986-1996
outlined online. Statistics for the periods 1997-2001 and 1998-2002
are available in book form (for purchase or perhaps your local library
would have them or be able to get them)."

I do not have access to the books and I don't read Spanish and
Portuguese. However, I will have another look online for you as time
permits, and let you know if I find anything.

Sincerely,
hummer
