Hello,

According to the U.S. Energy Department, several importers of crude
oil into the United States imported zero barrels from the Persian Gulf
countries in 2003. They are:

1) Sunoco Inc.
2) Port Arthur Coker Co.
3) El Paso Merchant Energy Petro
4) Chalmette Refg. LLC
5) United Refg. Co.
6) Citgo Asph. Refg. Co.
7) Calero St. Charles Refy.
8) Tesoro Hawaii Corp.
9) Giant Yorktown Inc.
10) Shell Chem. LP (not Shell Oil Co.)
11) CHS Inc.
12) Sinclair Oil Corp.
13) Statoil Mktg. & Trdg. (US) Inc.
14) Crown Central Petro Corp.
15) Frontier Oil & Refg.
16) Trigeant Ltd.
17) Ergon Refg. Inc.
18) Koch Supply & Trdg. Co.
19) Vitol S A Inc.
20) NCRA
21) Montana Refg. Co.
22) Flying J Petro Inc.
23) BP Oil Supply Co. (not BP Prods. North Am.)
24) Morgan Stanley Capital Grp. Inc.
25) Shell Oil Prodts. US (not Shell Oil Co.)
26) Equistar Chemicals LP
27) Suncor Energy (USA) Inc.
28) Nexen Mkts.

Of those importers, Sunoco, Citgo, Sinclair and Flying J (truck
stops), at least, have their own branded service stations. However,
that does not mean that no gasoline purchased at a given Sunoco would
come from the Middle East. According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch,
quoted on snopes.com, gasoline companies buy and sell from each other.

According to the National Association of Convenience Stores, "By the
time crude oil gets from the ground into our gasoline tanks, there's
no telling exactly where it came from."

So, gasoline purchased at Sunoco, Citgo, Sinclair or Flying J might be
less likely to come from the Middle East, but there's no guarantee.

I hope this answer satisfies your needs. If you have any questions,
please feel free to request a clarification.
