Hello, I'm attempting to construct a MAME Cabinet out of basic wood, an old computer, and an old monitor. I plan on running MAME32 (emulator) and using Windows 98. I am looking for some advice specifically regarding the joysticks/controllers. I'm trying to decide on what controllers/joysticks to use. The two major factors include a simple installation (plug and play?) and affordability (no more than $100). I've thought about: The Hanna Ho Hotrod Classic Controller. http://retroblast.com/reviews/controller2.html Is this type of controller something that seems feasible? Do you have any suggestions for other controller alternatives? Also, what is the best way to get a bulk amount of games; websites, downloads, etc.? Thanks so much! Danny |

I use and like the X-Arcade Joystick, ... they've worked with the Hanna Ho people to create it, as I've understood it. The downside is it's $149.95, but lifetime warranty. http://retroblast.com/reviews/controller3.html, www.x-arcade.com But if you want *everything* including a roller controller and spinner, http://retroblast.com/reviews/controller4.html .... The review site you chose is great. I have the dual X-Arcade, like I said, but if I could do it again, I might have chosen to get two single x-arcades for multiplayer fighters on my couch... more elbow room. Still, it's so much fun playing Advance Wars on my GC with GB Player attachment, using my X-Arcade with GameCube adapter... I digress. You have those types of options or you could actually pick up an old arcade cabinet with joysticks, and configure for Mame, although that might be problematic. The downside with Hanna Ho and Xarcade is, it's possible to be two at the upright, but it's sorta tight quarters. But if you're playing, say, Robotron or Crazy Climber, the spacing is spot-on. I chose the X-Arcade because of the multiple connection options. You get one connection with purchase, and can connect to future and present (XBox, DC, GC, PS2, PC) consoles with optional cables.
