Dear pafalafa-ga,

I asked this question a week ago and was hoping to get you to work on
it, apparently you were not available at the time. I'm re-posting the
same question and would like to see if you would be interested in
answering it. Please see my discussion of the question with another
researcher at this link:
http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=368338

I'm looking for glass fabricators who use glass grinding machines
(bevelling, edging, etc.) Here are two major machinery suppliers:
http://www.bovone.com/eng/frset_hm.htm
http://www.bavelloni.com

So is this something you could work on?

I'm setting a tentative price for now and will tip accordingly based
on the results. Thanks.

Hello htmail-ga,

I'm honored that you have specifically requested me for this question.
I hope I can meet your expectations, but I have to confess some
uncertainty on two fronts:

--One, if tutzdad and bobbie7 couldn't find what you were after, I
have little reason to suppose I could do better...they are both top
notch researchers.

--Two, I'm not sure at this point what your question is. The original
question you posted is not quite the same as what you have written up
here, and I'm unclear on which elements of the questions you actually
want answered at this point.

Perhaps you could honor me yet again by posting a clarification, and
letting me know, precisely, what sort of information you're looking
for. Then I'll be able to let you know if I can help (and I promise
not to leave town again any time soon!).

Thanks.

Clarification of Question by htmail-ga on 06 Jul 2004 19:37 PDT
Hello pafalafa-ga,

Thanks for asking for clarification.

My question remains the same. I'm looking for glass fabricators who
use these type of machines. I provided two machine manufacturers web
addresses just for your reference. Please also take a look of
http://www.unitedplateglass.com This company uses these type of
machines. I'm hoping that by providing relevant information like this,
it would help you to research this question in different ways.

I don't plan to put down a number of companies I'm asking for. I
believe that as long as you take the question you will do the best you
can.

Thanks,

htmail-ga

Hello again htmail-ga,

To tell you the truth, I have absolutely no idea what machines a
particular fabricator uses, nor would I know how to go about finding
out. Isn't it the case that *any* glass fabricating company would be
using the type of machines you're asking about????

Let's start here. The link below lists 77 glass fabricating companies in the US:

http://www.thomasregisterdirectory.com/glass/glass_fabricating_0026027_1.html

At the top of the page, you'll see other categories you can click on
-- such as "Optical Glass" -- to see other companies listed as well.

Are these lists useful to you? If not, what additional information do
you need to know?

Bear with me, and perhaps we can arrive at an answer to your question.

Thanks.

Dear pafalafa-ga,

I have pursued those channels already. I think I saw somewhere you
answered a similar question before, so I thought you might had some
experience in this field. I was really hoping I could find someone
who's in the right industry to answer my question, but looks like it's
not going to work out like I hoped.

Please do not spend more time on this question. You may take the
payment. Thank you for your help.

htmail-ga,

I'm not an experienced beveller, I admit. But I am a very experienced
searcher, and it's not impossible to find what you're looking for,
However, it's very labor intensive and requires a lot more effort than
I can justify at the price you've set for this question.

I did come across a few companies that seem to meet your requirements, however:

http://www.indiansources.com/misc/html/guri06p1.htm
Processed on automatic bevelling machines imported from
ITALY(BOVONE/BAVELLONI Make). The glass table and/or the tops are
available in various shapes, sizes, tints and edge finishes...

http://www.watersglass.ie/html/processing.html
Our bevelling machine BEVEL MAC 5 has been studied to be strong and of
small dimensions at the same time

http://www.bevel.co.uk/accoldes.htm
A list of our major machinery is as follows:-
Schiatti straight line bevelling machine

http://www.brownhillsglass.com/processing.htm
We also have a straight line bevelling machine which can provide up to
a 40mm bevel on glass up to 19mm thick and also a shaped bevelling
machine which allows us to supply bevelled diameters, arch top mirrors
and other varied shapes.

http://www.opticalwindows.co.uk/glassmachining.html
The bevelling, chamfering or arising process, involves grinding the
edges to a uniform size. Machining the edge using diamond wheels and
various grades of abrasives

Are these the type of sites you're looking for? Let me know.

pafalafa-ga,

Only http://www.brownhillsglass.com/processing.htm link is close to
what I'm looking for. But this company appears to be outside of the
U.S.

Now my questions for you are: 1. Roughly how many of these companies
(U.S. only) can you identify? 2. What would be a reasonable price for
the effort involved? I will decide whether or not to proceed forward
after I hear back from you. Thanks.

htmail-ga,

I must confess, I really don't understand what types of companies
would work for you, and which ones would not, so I can't offer any
guess as to how many I might be able to find for you. I simply don't
quite know what you're seeking here.

Perhaps it would best if we opened this question to other researchers,
in case someone else has some ideas of how to best approach this.

Dave_roads_ga,

Thanks for the link. Do you have experience in the glass industry?
