Hi hhlim,
This is not an official answer as I am not an official Google Answers
Researcher.
Are you talking about undergraduate or graduate programs?
USNEWS and World Report 2002 Ranks PhD Chemistry programs as follows:
1. Berkeley
2t. CalTech
2t. Harvard
2t. MIT
2t. Stanford
6t. Cornell
6t. U Illinois Urbana-Champaign
8t. Columbia
8t. Scripps Research Institute
10. U Wisconsin-Madison
Personally I'm a student at Berkeley and I can say that the people at
the College of Chemistry seem to be a friendly group and a fun college
to be in, due to its small size. However, Chemical Engineering, at
least on the undergrad level, is known for its burnout rate and
incredibly demanding courseload. There are just way too many courses
to take, but if you like taking classes, this might sound like a plus
to you!
There are also a few nobel-prize winners at Berkeley and a good deal
of office space, a chemistry library, some renovated labs and lecture
rooms (though many are old), and excellent industry opportunities. |
