Hi brose-ga,
The web address for the "Mississippi Motor Vehicle Commission" is
www.mmvc.state.ms.us.
Please note, however, that there are two agencies that handle motor
vehicle related services, the MMVC (above) and Mississippi Department
of Public Safety. The difference between the two is as follows:
The DPS Offers the following services through their website:
-Renewing a Driver's License Online
-Find locations to obtain a DL
-Look up road conditions
According to their website, the DPS "...keeps records about
Mississippi drivers (driver license and driver history information).
This includes names, addresses, physical description (height, weight,
eye color), date of birth, gender type and status of driver's license,
and if corrective lenses are needed for driving. In addition a record
is kept of any moving violations that a Mississippi driver is
convicted of, medical information about certain conditions that may
affect driving, social security number, suspensions, revocations, and
cancellations of driver license privileges." (see
http://www.dps.state.ms.us/dps/dps.nsf/divpages/hp2drivermap?OpenDocument)
The DPS also houses the Mississippi Highway Patrol, and other
Crime-Related agencies.
To visit the DPS, visit http://www.dps.state.ms.us
The purpose of the MMVC is quite different, however:
"We are the regulatory agency for sales, distribution and advertising
of new vehicles. We license manufacturers and representatives, dealers
and their salespeople." says their website at www.mmvc.state.ms.us.
SEARCH STRATEGY:
When looking for the website of any state-related government agency,
go to www.state.**.us, where ** is the postal abbreviation of the
state you are looking for (in this case the address is
www.state.ms.us). Most states have a directory of agencies that will
assist you in finding the appropriate web address.
Hope this helps,
