How would you re-focus an investor from short-term market results to
long-term results?

1.) Move equity investing money into long term risk averse equity that
is a good mimic of S&P 500
2.) Insure a good balance equity and non-equity investment. That
includes interest rate, commodity and bond type investments.
3.) Consider getting out of real estate investments
4.) Invest internationally.

If this is sales - it's all about emotions.

Kids? - Private School, College, Cars....

Wife? - Being a good provider, planning for a secure future, 

Elderly Parents? - Providing for dignified aging.

All of these suggestions imply that if the investor does not adopt a
long term focus, he/she is dishonoring loved ones.
