We currently have a website www.equipofficefurniture.com.au which we
would like to redevelop so that it not only looks good and reflects
our "offer" but is also search engine optimised. I am having
difficulty finding businesses that have the necessary skills to
achieve both objectives. Can anyone recommend 3 or 4  Sydney based
organisations that have these skills ?

They're not in Sydney, but the founder once lived there. Try QuantumLight.com
