I am getting a BSOD with the error MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION every few
days, but sometimes more often. I've got a brand new system and I
posted the relevant specs at the bottom. I've read the MSDN
information on this error located here:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q329284

My CPU runs at 100 degrees F at idle and 125 degrees F during Prime95
Torture Test. Sandra found that my VCore was 1.49 and not 1.5, but
I've tried raising it to 1.525, no help. Tom's Hardware tested my
motherboard with the 533MHz version of my RAM here:

http://www.tomshardware.com/motherboard/20040602/memory_modules-16.html

and found that it was compatible. I have tried un-shadowing
everything in my BIOS, increasing the DDR voltage, underclocking the
bus, using MSI's proprietary Spread Spectrum to clean the signals,
etc, but nothing seems to work. Any idea what is wrong? I should
note that my RAM is non-ECC and unbuffered, which might cause problems
with a Gigabyte of RAM and only a single channel memory controller,
but the Tom's Hardware review I posted above had this same type
functioning (albeit at an even higher bus clock). It seems unlikely
that my CPU is defective.

PROCESSOR: Athlon64 3200+ (clocked to default)
RAM: Kingston KHX3200AK2/1G (that's 2 512MB modules of Kingston
HyperX 400MHz, both are running at SPD and AUTO settings in BIOS)
MOTHERBOARD: MSI MS-6702 with the latest bios revision 1.70 (system
bus at AUTO 200 MHz)
POWER SUPPLY: Antec 400 Watt
Let me know if you want anymore of the specs, but I don't think that
they are relevant. Nothing out of the ordinary in my system (old
school video card, wifi, nothing drawing too much power)

Here is my result from the latest version (23.8.1) of Prime95's Torture Test:

FATAL ERROR: Rounding was 0.4921875, expected less than 0.4
Hardware failure detected, consult stress.txt
Torture Test ran 53 minutes - 1 errors, 0 warnings
Execution Halted

so, what does stress.txt say?

You may still be running hot on your CPU
(http://www.thinkgeek.com/pcmods/cooling/6044/?cpg=froogle), and
according to your MS support link, you could be having problems with
CPU or RAM.

stress.txt is just the file the comes with Prime95 that just
generalizes what to do if you get an error. Generally, they say that
your overclocked system isn't stable, but in my case my system is
running at spec.
I've purchased an expensive new surge protector and when I run
Prime95 with the heavy FPU operations, I don't get errors (there is
very limited RAM access in this test). Therefore, I can pretty much
narrow it down to my RAM, which sucks because it was so expensive.
The CPU is running well within the allowed temperature range, that's
not the problem.
