I am getting a BSOD with the error MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION every few
days, but sometimes more often. I've got a brand new system and I
posted the relevant specs at the bottom. I've read the MSDN
information on this error located here:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q329284
My CPU runs at 100 degrees F at idle and 125 degrees F during Prime95
Torture Test. Sandra found that my VCore was 1.49 and not 1.5, but
I've tried raising it to 1.525, no help. Tom's Hardware tested my
motherboard with the 533MHz version of my RAM here:
http://www.tomshardware.com/motherboard/20040602/memory_modules-16.html
and found that it was compatible. I have tried un-shadowing
everything in my BIOS, increasing the DDR voltage, underclocking the
bus, using MSI's proprietary Spread Spectrum to clean the signals,
etc, but nothing seems to work. Any idea what is wrong? I should
note that my RAM is non-ECC and unbuffered, which might cause problems
with a Gigabyte of RAM and only a single channel memory controller,
but the Tom's Hardware review I posted above had this same type
functioning (albeit at an even higher bus clock). It seems unlikely
that my CPU is defective.
PROCESSOR: Athlon64 3200+ (clocked to default)
RAM: Kingston KHX3200AK2/1G (that's 2 512MB modules of Kingston
HyperX 400MHz, both are running at SPD and AUTO settings in BIOS)
MOTHERBOARD: MSI MS-6702 with the latest bios revision 1.70 (system
bus at AUTO 200 MHz)
POWER SUPPLY: Antec 400 Watt
Let me know if you want anymore of the specs, but I don't think that
they are relevant. Nothing out of the ordinary in my system (old
school video card, wifi, nothing drawing too much power) |
