Question ID: 37152
Can somebody tell me where we must go to locate this fun
multi-player casino game? This game seats approx. 8 bettors and
utilizes a central video monitor and computer along with a large
racetrack around which plastic horses "run". We've played it at the
Nassau Marriott in the Bahamas and at a casino in Antigua. Thanks.

Hi wsg!

I'm operating on the assumption that you're looking to play this game,
not purchase it. If I've assumed incorrectly, please let me know, and
I will provide you with purchase information for a Royal Ascot
machine. I've confined the search to locations in the US and Canada -
I did find locations in Monaco and Hong Kong, however.

According to the June 2001 issue of Equine Trader
( http://www.equine-trader.com/racing_industry_section.htm ), Bully's
Sport and Entertainment Center has such a machine:

Bully's Sport and Entertainment Centre

You can also find it at the following locations:

Northlands Spectrum ( http://www.northlands.com/company.html )
and Baccarat Casino in Downtown Edmonton

Casino de Hull
Casino Montreal ( Montreal, Quebec, Canada)

According to the following article, it can also be found in various
casinos on the Las Vegas Strip:

In Vegas, viva video

There are likely dozens more locations for this game, but there is no
centralized listing of who may have this game in their casino or
arcade at any given time. You may want to contact horse tracks in
your area to see if any of them have this game in their lounges or
game rooms - my local harness racing track informs me that this is a
very popular game at racetrack lounges nationwide (their own Royal
Ascot machine is out for repair as it sees a lot of play).

Alternatively, give your favorite arcade a call to see if they either
have the game or plan to host it in the near future. Arcade owners do
keep tabs on which game is "hot", and can usually point their guests
in the direction of who might have it, or even bring a machine in if
enough customers request it. Most arcades rotate large games
frequently, so ask your operator to give you a shout when/if he gets
Royal Ascot in.

Good luck!

Thanks for your response. Your horse racing lounge suggestion was
helpful and clever. Interestingly enough, SEGA informed me that only
one unit is available in Vegas: at their corp. HQ, and not available
to the public! Did you find any info. on machines in the Caribbean?

Hi wsg,

I'm afraid I've been unable to locate Royal Ascot machines in the
Caribbean.

This doesn't mean that casinos/game rooms in the Caribbean don't have
it, it means only that no one has bothered to advertise that fact.
Very few casinos/game rooms have web pages listing what games they
have, if they list any at all.

You mention that Sega themselves said the only Royal Ascot machine in
Vegas is at their corporate headquarters. Perhaps you might want to
ask them if they can help you locate other machines?

If the headquarters won't, perhaps the sales contact will?
Information is included on this page:

Sega Gaming - Royal Ascot

Good luck!
