I am looking for the title of a movie I saw, on VHS, within the past 7 years.
I would have rented it from either Hollywood or Blockbuster Video.
I believe that it was a mainstream movie.
I don't know any of the actors names.
The plot was as follows: A guy (I believe he was an architecht) and
his wife are having marital / sexual problems. His wife goes to see a
therapist who she winds up having sex with. But the therapist isn't
totally creepy - he is really trying to heal her (and his other
patients) by helping them get in touch with their blocked sexual
energy. The husband starts to get suspicious and finds out / figures
out what is going on and confronts the therapist. The husband is then
drawn into a therapeutic conversation about his own blocked energy and
the couple wind up working out their problem.

This was not an "adult" film - it was mainstream.

It was based on the controversial theories of Wilhelm Reich - although
I really doubt that the film mentions him.

I would be grateful for help finding this title. It would be perfect
for a friend who is freaked out about their spouse's newly emerging
sexual energy.

Hello.

It sounds like you're describing "Bliss" (1997).

See this review on Amazon.com:

'This curious drama fits into the too-familiar form of the "therapy
movie," but it's acted with intensity by a committed (and rather
brave) trio. Craig Sheffer plays an uptight Seattle husband who
discovers his neurotic wife (Sheryl Lee) visiting a radical doctor
(Terence Stamp) who has sex--therapeutically--with his patients. After
briefly flipping out, Sheffer finds himself buying into the doctor's
remedies for a sexual and emotional make-over.'

------
search strategy:
movie "to a sex therapist"
"sheryl lee" craig
bliss therapist "craig sheffer"

I hope this is the movie that you had in mind. If not, please let me
know via the "request clarification" feature. Thanks.
