OK, here's a "first" <ok, maybe a 3rd, or 4th...> Yahoo chat client.
I've had my Yahoo ID since 1999 and has worked fine <not really> until
the July 4th holiday. Yahoo chat client will not load, nor will
Messenger authenticate/verify my original Yahoo ID. I changed my Yahoo
p/w, thought that would do the trick, nah, not gonna happen. I emailed
yahoo and they emailed back stating that they are "aware of the
problem." How come I can login to Yahoo auctions, Yahoo "my account"
and other Yahoo features and not be able to use Messenger or Yahoo
chat client? How did the Yahoo servers "erase" mine and possibly
thousands of other Yahoo ID's? Are there actual human beings working
at Yahoo or is it true that there are a band of trained chimpanzees
working in a cellar in Palo Alto CA, running Yahoo operations?

There is no answer at this time.

Maybe their facelift on the 3rd didn't
go hitch free?

Yahoo like most huge portal sites, uses
a distributed server network. Any portion
of that could have gone down, obliterating
only a segment of data. In this case, maybe
your messenger and chat info, while the
servers for other "online products" goes
on working unscathed.

There is also several nasty viruses that
are in circulation. Always a slight non-
zero chance that virus traffic load may
have caused problems.

Which are smarter chimpanzees or monkeys?

GRRR, ARRRGGG, I still CANNOT use Yahoo messenger or Yahoo chat. Can
ANYONE get through to Yahoo and find out where the heck in cyberhell
my original Yahoo ID "InvestorStox" has vaporized to and the reason(s)
why Yahoo won't authenticate my p/w in messenger or why yahoo chat
client won't load. If you can get in touch with an actual human being
at Yahoo, I will up the answer to $10.00. All I get is the computer
generated responses from yahoo that I am "incorrectly" entering my
Yahoo ID and p/w. That's why I changed my Yahoo p/w. I thought that it
was MY computer, nope, it is THEIR computer. Does ANYONE know ANYTHING
about what "occured" on July 3rd, 2002 at Yahoo to cause this. I am
not the only one, but all my chat friends are on my friends list. I
can login to Yahoo chat, but I cannot get the client to load. I am
willing to go to $20.00 if you can sort out the whole thing as to what
exactly is going on, what are they "doing" at yahoo to correct this
and will I EVER have my original Yahoo ID back, or is it gone?

Isn't there a provision to have your
password emailled to you? Have you
tried that yet? Not to verify your
password necessarily, but to dismiss
their "canned" response of a forgotten
pw.
