In £, $ or Euro will do.

Just an approximation: little need for much in the way of supporting evidence.

Many thanks!

Mon chér Bryan,

Thank you muchly for accepting this information as your answer. I've
reposted the material below.

According to this page, one 1940 Franc was worth approximately 1.97
2001 Francs (or 0.3 Euros).

"Conversion en francs courants...

 1940 vaut environ 1,97 f ou 0,3 ?"

For the record, this is the Google search string that led me to the
site linked above:

Google Web Search: "valeur" + "franc" + "1940"

Toujours gai,

Very Many Thanks to both Commentators and if Miss Pinky would now do
the honour of posting an Answer that would make me Mr Perky.

Sorry, nfpolaris, but that would count as a new question.

Surely, Miss Pinky & I can have a little tete-a-tete (and no I am NOT
going to translate that either) without requests for translation?

In any event, mine wasn't very good French and probably defies translation.

Real French speakers would cringe at my spelling of Biblio-whatsit for a start.

nfpolaris,

My comment above, "Merci pour le cadeau et pour toutes les étoiles,"
means "Thank you for the gift [meaning the nice tip] and for all the
stars."

If you want that in Spanish, it's gonna cost extra. :-D

Oops, Pinky, I had completely misunderstood you.

I had translated

"Merci pour le cadeau et pour toutes les étoiles,"

as:

"Mercy for the caddy and for all the toils."

OK so it didn't make any sense but I hadn't wanted to show my ignorance.

All is now explained.

Mucho mercy for that.
