You likely want current info, but it appears no one wants to research
that for $2. I can help some with the history of electrical
engineering if that is to be part of your report. Electrical
Engineering was born about the time of Edison, Tesla and Stiemetz.
About 1890 these pioneers were moving electricity out of the
laboritory into big business. Engineering is application of science.
Electonic was born about 1925 when the mass production of vacuum tubes
began, and the first radio stations began broadcasting. The invention
of the transistor in 1948 and the intigrated circuit about 20 yars
later, jumpstarted electronics to the massive industry it is today.
Beginning in July of 1950, I enrolled at Milwaukee College of
Engineering as an electronic technician. All the technician courses
counted toward a BSEE in electronics. I completed 3 of the required 4
years to get a BSEE. The last I heard many colleges require 5 years of
study to complete a BSEE in electronics. Lots of advanced math and
physics is required, and persons who complete a BSEE in electronics
are typically outstanding persons who are often hired for other
fields. As a result there are job offers of some kinds even in time of
resession. Neil
