I have just bought a wireless USB adapter and have installed it into my old laptop which runs Windows 98. I get an error message when I reboot my computer "WLANCFG4.EXE file is linked to missing export OLEAUT32.DLL:173" I am not able to launch the utility. The adapter appears to be working and the driver has installed successfully. |

I had horrible problems trying to install this adapter to a windows 98 computer and get it to work. Apparently Win98 doesn't do a very great job with support of USB adapters, although 98SE is supposedly better. I ended up having to go with a PCI card on my desktop, which installed easily and worked flawlessly. Maybe a PC card option might work for your laptop, but I had absolutely no luck with this adapter. Don't know if it was the same error messages that I got, but I got lots of different errors before I gave up. |
