Anybody who's anybody in independent film and anybody who WANTS to be,
gets involved with the IFP. I think it used to be called the
Independent Feature Project, now it's simply IFP. It is the
non-profit service organization for independent filmmakers and other
industry people. And every year, the day before the Oscars, it
produces the Independent Spirit Awards, which you may have seen on TV.
Their website has tons of info and contact info to help you with your
festival.
http://www.ifp.org (And their main office is in LA).
Also, you should subscribe (it's free) to INDIE WIRE, the daily e-mail
newsletter for the independent film community. It has a classifieds
section, where you can post an ad for filmmakers, but it also has a
wealth of other info, too, including indie news, interviews, reviews,
etc.
