I want a list of dedicated servers providers who offer cheap
($150/month max) unix dedicated servers with their prices. This list
must include web site of the provider, link to the most cheapest
offer, setup fee, monthly fee, prepaid monthly amount of traffic and
the price of traffic exceeding prepaid amount. The servers must be:
dedicated(not colocation), real computer (not virtual machines like
virtuozzo), unix (linux, freebsd are OK), have bare operating system
(NO control panels like cpanel, ensim, plesk or others). The list must
contain 50 offers from different providers. Providers preferably
should be from USA and Canada. Providers must allow on-line
ordering and support payments via credit cards.

paris12-ga,

Typically, dedicated hosting packages will be listed to come with a
plethora of software and features. However, a quick e-mail to the
sales department of certain webhosts will allow you to customize what
is installed (or in your case, not installed) on your server. Would
webhosts that list their plans as having cPanel (or other such
additional software) but give you the option of emailing their sales
department and modifying the initial software setup be acceptable as
part of the answer as well?

paris12-ga,
Just another quick question. Are you looking for a bare bones server
to save money on the setup costs? If not, what is the purpose of such
a requirement?

Cheers,
tox-ga

Hi
1. No they are not acceptable. Typically providers do list all
possible variants of server setups - with control panel software or
without.
2. To save money on setup costs AND to lower the monthly fee. I do not
need software which i will not use. In fact i'll remotely reinstall
the operating system on the server so i don't need anything that will
be installed on it by provider!

You may be interested in visiting WebHostingTalk, at
http://www.webhostingtalk.com . There's a whole forum dedicated to
daily-updated special offers and such
(http://www.webhostingtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?forumid=36). Also,
there's a Host Quote system where you enter the details, like you
specified, and you'll receive quotes back from (usually) qualified
providers.

I did an extensive research a few weeks ago as I was getting a
dedicated server for one of my websites.
By far the best price I found was Ipowerweb's dedicated servers:
http://www.ipowerweb.com/products/dedicatedserver/index.html

And with the reliability that they have it is also good to have a peace of mind.

This is the part of their e-mail that I got as an answer to some of my questions:

?Currently, our dedicated server solutions will come with only the OS
installed on the machine (FreeBsd, Linux, Windows). The end user is
then responsible for all additional utilities, programs, and
applications. These servers are unmanaged, therefore, it would be the
end user?s responsibility to provide administration for these servers.
We from our end will provide hardware support only......you will have
root access to the machine and will be able to use it for any purpose
as long as it is not illegal. Our dedicated server solutions are able
to handle up to a hundred domains comfortably.

With 49$ plan, you will get one server with one unique IP, 40 Gb hard
drive(Hard disk) on this server. Yes, you can host any kind of sites on
this server and use it for your purposes...

To view the full specifications of the servers offered, please visit:
http://www.ipower.com/dedicated.html"

I don't think that currently there is better deal for a dedicated
server available on the Internet. Also Ipowerweb is extremely reliable
host.
