Windows help suggests you should compress the folder and add a password to it.
It's easier to do using WinZip or another compression program. There
doesn't seem to be a easy way to password protect without compression.

I dont know if this works on XP home, but you cna do this in XP professional.
Lets say you want to restrict access to a certain folder to only a
subset of user son your computer, then do the following
1.)Right click on the folder
2.)Click on Properties
3.)Click on the Security Tab
4.)Now you can add the users and specify the rights they have. Such as
(ALLOW or DENY) Read /List Folder Contents/Write etc.

By doing the above you can restrict the users who can access a certain
folder / file.

Again I dont have XP home so I can not confirm that this will work on XP home

I've been using a program called ``Hide Files & Folders'' for some
time which allows you to hide and/or password protect files and
folders, amongst other features.
For more information visit the programs' website at:
http://www.softstack.com/hff.html
It's shareware, the retail price is $39.

By default the above solution by 5h4r4d-ga won't work on XP Home since
you usually can't turn Simple File Sharing off. However, through a bug
in XP Home you can, but it involves going into safe mode every time
you want to make a change in permissions.

You should give FolderGuard Professional
[www.winability.com/folderguard/] a try, it's light, simple and very
effective.

you can change the permissions so only some users can access it. This
is disabled in windows xp home but there is a loophole. If you go into
safe mode you can change all of the permissions you want. Just make it
so that the things you dont want the other users to see they dont have
read access to!

hope this helps
