Hi I am an Interior Designer and I have a client who wants me to
convert his basement into a star trek living quarters like on the
television show "Star Trek the Next Generation." I have searched on
the web for hours attempting to find out how the sets were built for
the show and out of what materials they were constructed. Can you
please find this information for me- and IF there are any interior
architectural retailers that offer Star Trek type interior building
components... it would be most appreciated! Thank you =)

Hello!

I have located a set designer from the TNG series and he has a way to
contact him for more information. Not only did he design sets, but he
also has designed components for the rooms since the items replicated
and available for sale anywhere. I think there would be no better way
to go about this than directly to the source, would this information
constitute an answer for you. Please let me know how to proceed.

Hello FrouFrou-ga,

In researching your question I found Kenneth Larson who is the lead
Set Designer at Kesign Design Consulting. Mr. Larson has worked on
several Star Trek set designs and also on Borg Invasion, which is a
themed amusement park attraction. I feel he may be an priceless
resource in helping your client achieve the sleeping quarters he/she
desires. He uses both hand drafting and CAD to do his designs. You may
read more about him here:
http://www.kesigndesign.com/code/set_desn.htm

You can contact him through email at: klarson@kesigndesign.com
Or by phone or fax at:
Voice: 1-818-368-6994
Fax: 1-818-360-3759

I found this information by doing a search for star trek design on www.google.com
://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=star%20trek%20design&btnG=Google+Search

Also, jackburton-ga beat me to it, but 24th Century Design is another
great place you should contact.

I did not find any sites where any " Star Trek type interior building
components" were sold.

I wish you the best of luck on your design, I wish I could see what
you come up with!

If this answer requires further explanation, please request
clarification before rating it, and I'll be happy to look into this
further.

Hi froufrou,

British Star Trek fan Tony Alleyne, has transformed his Leicestershire
studio apartment into an exact replica of the Starship Enterprise, and
has now set up an interior design company, 24th Century Design (
http://www.24thcid.com ).

Here you can see interior shots of the appartment:

Hope that helps!
