Recently our site http://www.emailprivacy.info has disappeared from

Greetings, swan!

We've gotten many Questions similar to yours lately.

The reason your Email Privacy site has dropped in the ratings is that
the Googlebot's search algorithms were recently tweaked to do a much
better job of recognizing duplicate sites.

What I've been seeing is that the Googlebot uses its algorithm to
decide which site is the original, and those that are considered
duplications are dropping way down or disappearing entirely from
Search Results.

The Googlebot has probably recognized that this site contains some
content quite similar to your other site, www. stayinvisible .com.

for example:
http://www.emailprivacy.info/home
http://www.stayinvisible.com/index.pl/e_mail_privacy

http://www.emailprivacy.info/privacy_pgp
http://www.stayinvisible.com/index.pl/mail_privacy_pgp

http://www.betterwhois.com/bwhois.cgi?domain=emailprivacy.info&x=29&y=9
http://www.betterwhois.com/bwhois.cgi?domain=stayinvisible.com&x=80&y=5

From the Google Information for Webmasters - Webmaster Guidelines:
"... Don't create multiple pages, subdomains, or domains with
substantially duplicate content..."

In addition, much of your content is copied from other sites on the
Internet (which presents some serious legal issues, above and beyond
the subject of this Question), and the Googlebot is probably seeing
that, as well:

http://www.emailprivacy.info/privacy_pgp
"researchers from Carnegie Mellon" "uses a technique known as public
key cryptography"

http://www.emailprivacy.info/digital_signatures
"Signer authentication" "Message authentication" "Affirmative act"
"Efficiency" "asymmetric cryptosystem"

http://www.emailprivacy.info/privacy_ssl
"these programs usually leave email headers"

If you want to save your Email Privacy website, I recommend that you
rewrite it almost completely to contain different content than the
Stay Invisible site, and remove duplicate content copied from other
sites (if they've copied you, then you need to have your attorney send
some letters).

Then, write to Google at help@google.com , admit your mistake, beg
forgiveness, and ask them to please reinstate your site.

Please bear in mind that there is NO guarantee that you will be
reinstated, or how long it will take for you to be reinstated.

Otherwise (and this is my recommendation), your best bet is to
incorporate the content of your Email Privacy site into your Stay
Invisible site, set up a 301 direct from the first site to the second,
and request that any sites with links to the Privacy site change them
to point to the Invisible site.

Regards,
