I'm working with a client who has never commissioned a graphic design
project before and I'd like to show them that the rates I'm asking are
average or even low for what I'd be doing -- redesigning the signage
for an institutional building. What would be helpful are some
specific examples of how much firms charge, on an hourly or project
basis, for graphic design that includes design conception, creation of
graphics, writing, and production (or you could just say, complete
responsibility for a project). The more authoritative the sources
(the firms themselves or respected newspapers, etc.), the better. You
could also look at this from another direction and look at the
Occupational Outlook Handbook for average wages of senior graphic
designers. Or if there are guides for clients about how to work with
and what to expect from graphic designers, those could be helpful too.
Basically I want to be able to make a convincing presentation about
the economics of high-quality graphic design. Thank you. |
